Abstract
The use of plastics as food and beverage containers has been the subject of increasing attention in recent years due to the potential hazards associated with the chemical content in plastics. Plastics, which commonly contain chemicals such as bisphenol A (BPA) and phthalates, can cause negative impacts to human health when exposed through contact with food and beverages. This review includes an explanation of the types of plastics commonly used as food and beverage containers, as well as the chemicals contained in plastics, such as bisphenol A (BPA) and phthalates, that can harm human health when exposed. We also discuss the impact of plastic waste on the environment, including the pollution of oceans and marine ecosystems.
