Abstract

Determining the Qibla direction has progressed towards the digital era, one of which is through Android applications. One of the popular applications is the Indonesian Al-Qur'an Application, which was developed by Andi Unpam and has been downloaded by more than 50,000,000+ users as of March 18 2023. This application has a rating of 4.8. Seeing the large number of downloaders and users, the author was interested in researching the level of accuracy of the Qibla compass in the Al-Qur'an Indonesia Version 2.7.58 application by Andi Unpam. The aim of this research is to explain the algorithm for using the Qibla direction compass and to determine the accuracy of the Qibla direction compass in the Indonesian Al-Qur'an Version 2.7.58 application by Andi Unpam. This research is field research with a qualitative approach. Observations were carried out directly at the IAIN Lhokseumawe Mosque. This research uses two data sources, namely primary data obtained through interviews, observation using a Qibla direction compass in the Indonesian Al-Qur'an Version 2.7.58 application by Andi Unpam with a theodolite. as well as secondary data obtained from documentation such as books, writings, articles, journals and other sources related to the use of a compass in determining the direction of the Qibla. The first result of this research is the algorithm for using the compass application for the Indonesian Al-Qur'an version 2.7.58 by Andi Unpam, download the application, click the "prayer times" menu, turn on the GPS, calibrate the device, position the device until it is correct. This research also provides accuracy results for measuring the Qibla direction using an application compass with a theodolite, which shows the highest difference with a value of 0˚10'25”
